Got Time?

When I first got Saved 15 years ago I could have swore that afterwards my life was going to be picture perfect by my standards. Nope that’s not exactly how God works. I recall 2 Bible verses that always had me stuck especially when a trial approached as it relates to my time and/or impatience.

1.) Faith without works is dead. (James 2:17)
2.) Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10)
Well, heck which one is it, should I do I do a whole bunch of stuff in order to get the results I want? Or just let time go by and simply wait? If so, what time? Where can I get more?

With my college brain and being rather impatient, I just felt as if one was contradictory to the other and demanded an answer. I received different answers from those in the church of which I though satisfied me at the time but as I moved along on my journey, I could clearly tell by my actions and reactions, like a bad perm, those words just didn’t take!

Sometimes my bout’ of overthinking and applying collegiate research to explore an Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent God, could have this Sis in very confused, extending “situations” even further than they needed to be.

You see, despite perhaps popular commentaries or opinions of “doing and going” to the point one becomes exhausted especially if no results are seen, as I matured and focused more on context and beyond one-liners, I learned there was no contradiction at all. Simply put both verses are used to display the Supreme Power of God and the Faith and Trust He wants His people to have in Him.

Knowing God’s Lordship, surrendering to His reign and the fact that we can’t do nothing without and apart from Him are all apart of this Submission. It is not about how many things I can do to gain His love, the appeasement of people, get into Heaven or get what I want.

The “works” are doing such things as praying, building a relationship with Jesus, reading His word, fellowshipping with other believers. But listen, it’s not always so much of the doing but the Hearing. (Remember Martha–Luke 10:38-42).

RELAX.

Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Let’s Pray,

Heavenly Father, in the Mighty name of Your Son Jesus Christ, we come humbly before You giving you all the praise! We thank you for time and may we not take it for granted but embrace it with Faith. Faith and Trust in You knowing that You have our lives within Your hands. Just as You told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5 that “before I formed you in the womb, I knew you”, I know You knew us and still do just as well. You know our coming and going, our purpose and thoughts. And even when we may consider time only by the capabilities of our own knowledge, we know You see things so very differently. We know You provide rest and comfort from the most anxious and weary minds. And that You are the place of rest where we need to be! May we go forward being reminded of this and during times of trouble call on You First before anyone or anything else. We love You Lord, there’s truly none like You!

In Jesus Name We Pray,

Amen

With Love,

Missy Anne
